Please join Congregation Agudath Achim of Bradley Beach for a panoply of Purim parties next week. The Purim holiday celebrates the survival of the Jewish people who were targeted for extinction in the 5th century BCE in Persia but were saved through the wisdom of Queen Esther, one of the great Jewish heroes.
The festivities kick off on Saturday morning, March 4 with a Learner’s Service from 11 - 11:30 AM, and a special short Torah reading, followed by a festive kiddush. The celebrations continue with a children’s Purim Party on Sunday, March 5th from 10:30-11:45am. The free event is sponsored with PJ Library and includes hamentaschen making, costume party, music and games with raffles and prizes. Join the synagogue for a free Persian Cooking demonstration at 6pm on Sunday with Shahnaz Goldman, Persian chef extraordinaire, who grew up in Iran and will share her memories of Purim in Persia.
The festivities continue on Purim day itself with a dramatic Megillah reading on Monday, March 6 at 6:30 PM, followed by complimentary refreshments and comedy with Rabbi Kelman.
On Tuesday, March 7, join Congregation Agudath Achim for a Persian Feast at 5:30pm, preceded by the Megillah reading at 4:45 PM.
The cost for the Feast is $32 for adults and $16 for children 14 and under. Newcomers to the shul will have a discounted ticket price of $10. Please Register or RSVP to congbradleybeach@gmail.com
